It’s quite common for major titles to receive DLCs in this day and age. This allows developers to continue offering more content to players once they have already sold them the game. They provide players with more to take out of the game so the strategy has been working well for both sides. However, that won’t be the case for God of War.
Cory Barlog, Sony Santa Monica Studios Director, shared a post recently about a one year anniversary package for God of War with the caption “That’s not all…” This led many fans to believe that perhaps a DLC is in the pipeline for this popular title.
Barlog later set the record straight on his Twitter account. “Just so no one gets the wrong idea – there is no DLC coming for the game. Sorry,” he clarified in the tweet. It’s pertinent to mention here that Barlog did have an idea for a God of War DLC back in January and he did pitch it but it ended up being scrapped as the idea was deemed to be too ambitious.
This clarification from Barlog may essentially shut the door on the possibility of a DLC for God of War. It’s just something that fans of the title will have to come to terms with, I guess.
