As it turns out, players are reacting pretty well. According to the latest figures, it has been revealed that Nintendo Switch Online is boasting 9.8 million subscribers. This number includes those who took part in the free trial and also those in family members, so it is unclear as to how many actual individual subscriptions there are, but it is still a pretty impressive figure given that the service only launched last year.
However, to put it into context, the Nintendo Switch is said to have sold close to 35 million units and has surpassed the N64 in lifetime sales. This means that roughly a third of Switch owners are actually paying for the service, while the remaining two-thirds aren’t. Perhaps given time that will change.
That being said, Nintendo Switch Online is actually very affordable compared to the competition. It is only priced at $20 for an annual subscription, and with multiplayer hit games such as ARMS, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Diablo 3, there are plenty of reasons to subscribe if you haven’t done so already.
