The good news is that according to a report from Nikon Rumors, they have heard from a source that the upcoming Nikon D6 is expected to remedy that with built-in sensor stabilization. For those who are unfamiliar, image stabilization for cameras typically comes in either sensor stabilization or lens stabilization.
The former means that any lens attached to the camera can benefit from the stabilization feature, while the latter is purely dependent on the lens. We’ve seen how some cameras in more recent times take advantage of sensor stabilization, such as the Fujifilm X-H1, so it’s good to hear that the Nikon D6 could be getting the feature as well.
In addition to the sensor stabilization feature, the rumors are claiming that the camera could also be packing a 24MP sensor, the ability to shoot 4K video at 60 FPS, and also longer manual exposure times. Take it with a grain of salt for now, but we’ll keep our eyes peeled for more information when the Nikon D6 is eventually launched.
