The company isn’t doing away with the previous model which had the dualcore 7th Generation processor. It will continue to be available at a discounted price.
This refreshed model has been launched quietly amid rumors that the company was going to introduce a new Surface Book 2 model in the near future. There’s not much in the way of new design changes here. All of the updates that have been made to this variant are under the hood.
The 13 inch Surface Book 2 is now available with the 8th Gen quadcore Core i5 processor. This particular variant with the i5-8350U that boosts the maximum clock speed to 3.6Ghz is priced at $1,499. Microsoft is keeping the previous model around as well for $1,299.
Moreover, the new mid-range Surface Book 2 gets 256GB of internal storage in addition to 8GB of RAM. The real performance improvement will certainly be driven by the new processor only. The shift from a dualcore chip to a quadcore will certainly make a noticeable improvement in the performance of this particular variant. Microsoft has a Surface event scheduled for April 17th where it’s going to talk more about the Surface Hub 2.
