Microsoft May Launch Its Own AirPods-Like Smart Earbuds

Microsoft showed its willingness to compete in the personal audio market with the Surface Headphones and it appears that the company may not be stopping there. According to a new report, Microsoft is working on its very own smart earbuds, not like the Apple AirPods. The device is reportedly codenamed Morrison.

Details about this product are a bit slim at this point in time. It’s not known if they have any additional functionality compared to the Surface headphones and if there will or won’t be a cable. One can expect them to be all wireless keeping in line with the trend in the market.

One can’t comment on the audio quality without actually hearing audio from the product so it can only be hoped that the audio would be good. Microsoft may also offer passive noise cancellation and Cortana integration.

The report doesn’t say when Microsoft is going to release these smart earbuds exactly but it’s predicted that the company is looking to launch them at some point this year. No word as yet on how much these earbuds could cost but given the price tags of other products in this category, one can reasonably expect them to cost a couple of hundred dollars.
