Apple’s upcoming major macOS update appears to be a feature-packed one. Reports have started filtering in about the new features that we can expect from this update. A report claims that macOS 10.15 will enable users to use a connected iPad as an external display for their Mac computer. There are a few third-party options for this already but they will essentially become obsolete if official support arrives in macOS 10.15.
This feature is reportedly part of a new window management system that’s going to be introduced in macOS 10.15. It will let users hover over the green maximize button to reveal several options which will include the conventional full-screen mode, new options for tiling, and the capability to send that window directly to an external display without having to drag it over.
It’s also reported that Apple is working on allowing users to snap windows to the side of their displays as well. This is something that Windows users have been able to do for years.
As for the iPad being used as an external display, users will reportedly be able to interact with apps using the Apple Pencil even when the tablet is being used as an external display. What’s unclear, though, is whether this would work wirelessly or will users be required to connect their iPad to their Mac.
