macOS 10.15 May Bring Separate Video, Music, And Podcasts Apps

Apple may break out some of its media features from iTunes and bring them as separate apps on Mac. This possibility was raised after the company announced that its TV app would arrive on the Mac soon. According to a new report, the next major macOS update will bring separate apps for Podcasts, Music, and Videos.

This doesn’t mean that Apple is doing away with iTunes. It will have to keep the app around since there’s no new solution as yet for manually syncing devices like old iPhones and iPods with the computer. It will thus have to keep the app around for some time before that can be possible.

9to5Mac reports that the next major macOS release, likely titled 10.15, will bring standalone apps for Music, Podcasts, and TV. All of these apps will reportedly be developed using Marzipan which is Apple’s new technology that’s designed to make it easier to port iPad apps to the Mac without requiring significant code changes.

The update is also said to bring a major redesign for the Books app. It may get a sidebar similar to the News app on Mac with a narrower title bar that has different abs for Book Store, Library, and Audiobook Store.
