The origin story of Batman’s nemesis, the Joker, has been shrouded in mystery for decades as there doesn’t seem to be a definitive story of how the Joker character came to be. As some of you might have heard, there is a standalone Joker movie in the works directed by Todd Phillips and starring Joaquin Phoenix, and now its official teaser trailer has since been released.
The trailer, from what we can tell, explores how the Joker’s persona and character came to be. It’s hard to tell what kind of movie it could turn out to be because there are no action sequences, so don’t expect it to be your typical superhero-style kind of movie. However, it does look pretty good from what we can tell.
The trailer also seems to do a pretty good job of painting the Joker as the victim, which we imagine could be the point of the movie where it would make audiences empathize with the character and how he came to be. It is doubtful that Batman will be making an appearance in this movie, but we’ll have to wait and find out.
It is also unclear if this story will be canon or if it could just end up being its own thing. The movie is currently set for a release on the 4th of October, so if you have a few minutes to spare, you might want to check out the teaser trailer above.
