iPad Pro With 5G Might Only Arrive In 2021

According to the rumors, Apple is expected to launch its 5G iPhone in 2020. Based on Apple’s history, the company tends to introduce new features to its iPhones first before it is eventually brought over to the iPad. This was the case with features such as Touch ID and Face ID, and it could be the same for 5G as well.

Unfortunately, it seems that a 5G iPad might not arrive until 2021. This is according to a report from Economic Daily News who cites top Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo whose report claims that 5G for the iPad might not arrive until two years later. This means that if you’re hoping to enjoy 5G speeds on your iPad, your best bet would be to use a 5G smartphone as a hotspot.

Kuo claims that Apple is expected to introduce liquid crystal polymer boards into its iPad refresh later this year, with the idea being that it will help to reduce signal loss and improve networking performance. This is apparently a precursor to Apple introducing 5G to its iPad lineup. It might be a bit disappointing to some that they might have to wait 2 years for a 5G capable iPad, but LTE is already plenty fast (for the most part), so maybe it won’t hurt to wait and let the tech mature as well.
