Unlike Polaroid or Fujifilm’s instant print cameras, what Canon’s new cameras have going for it is that it is pretty slim and could be easily slipped into your pocket, whereas Polaroid and Instax cameras tend to be a bit bulky. These cameras are shaped similar to compact cameras and can print using Zink paper in 2×2-inch or 2×3-inch sizes.
It does seem a bit strange for Canon to get into the instant camera game, especially since this isn’t exactly an area that they are known for, but it seems that the company is targeting the younger crowd. According to Kazuto Ogawa, president and chief operating officer, Canon U.S.A., Inc., “IVY, though tiny in size, has made a big impression this past year among Gen-Z and Millennials who have a passion for taking photos, expressing their individual style and instantly printing and sticking their moments.”
The CLIQ will be priced at $100 while the CLIQ+ will be sold for $160, both of which are expected to be available later this month. You will also need to buy the Zink paper which is used to print the photos.
