Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame has already been released in some parts of the world, such as China, and unfortunately, it looks like Marvel has a piracy problem on their hands because according to a report from TorrentFreak, it seems that pirated copies of the movie have already made their way online.
What’s ironic is that the decision to release the movie early in China was to combat piracy, where presumably the idea is that if moviegoers could see the movie before everyone else, they wouldn’t need to turn to piracy. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. That being said, TorrentFreak does not expect that this pirated copy will have too much of an impact on Marvel and Disney’s bottomline.
This is because based on what they’ve seen, the version leaked online is terrible. According to their source, “The image flickers constantly throughout. It’s semi-rotated and is littered throughout with watermarks for a gambling site that spin around the screen.” This means that unless you really, really don’t care, chances are most would probably just skip this pirated copy in favor of watching it in the cinema.
So far Avengers: Endgame has been raking in money hand over fist, where it opened in China with $90 million in sales.
