So far Apple claims to have learnt about six such incidents that have happened worldwide and are thus recalling the adapters. These adapters were made between 2003 and 2010 and were shipped with a variety of Mac and iOS devices, so if you do have an AC adapter that looks anything like the unit pictured above, then you should head on over to Apple’s website for the details.
According to Apple, “Affected three-prong wall plug adapters are white, with no letters in the inside slot where it attaches to an Apple power adapter. New adapters are white with gray on the inside portion that attaches to the power adapter.” Apple also notes that this does not affect the USB power adapters, so if you have that then you don’t have anything to worry about.
We should also point out that while the countries affected mention Singapore, Hong Kong, and the United Kingdom, Malaysia was not part of the list despite sharing similar power outlets as the countries mentioned, so that could be worth taking note of just to be on the safe side.
