What’s interesting is that the initial report suggested that it was a display, but according to Kuo, he refers to it as the iMac. This suggests that Apple could have an even bigger iMac in the works, although it is unclear if this iMac will be the regular iMac or if it could be part of the iMac Pro lineup.
Kuo also notes that for the upcoming iMac, Apple could be adopting the use of mini LED backlighting. If true, it would also make it the first iMac to use LED technology. As it stands, Apple’s computers still largely rely on LCD, with the Apple Watch and newer iPhones being the only products that use OLED (unless you count the touch bar used in the MacBook Pros).
He also states that Apple could be adopting the technology for their 17-inch MacBook Pros which apparently will be delayed to 2021 instead of launching in 2019 as previously rumored.
