Now it looks like Spotify is about to get some competition in the form of Amazon Music. Amazon has recently announced that they too will be launching a free listening tier with ads. Previously, the only way you could listen to Amazon Music was to either have an Amazon Prime membership or an Amazon Music Unlimited subscription, but now neither is required and users can just sign up and start listening.
However, similar to how Spotify places certain restrictions on its free listening tier, Amazon Music will also have some restrictions. According to Amazon, the free tier will only support top playlists and stations, meaning that if you are more of a song or album on demand kind of listener, you will have to pay for that privilege.
That being said, it’s not necessarily a bad deal if you don’t mind your music being curated for you, kind of like radio. For those interested in checking it out, head on over to Amazon Music’s website for the details.
