In a report sent out to investors and obtained by MacRumors, notable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo is backing up a previous report by claiming that Apple will indeed include two-way wireless charging in its 2019 iPhones. This would put the phone in line with devices from Huawei and Samsung, both of whom have included similar features in their handsets.
According to Kuo, “We expect the new 2H19 iPhone models will support two-way wireless charging. Though the iPhone is not the first high-end smartphone to be equipped with two-way wireless charging, this new function could make it more convenient for users to charge the new AirPods and create a better integrated user experience of the iPhone and AirPods.”
Apple had previously planned to launch their AirPower wireless charging mat, but that was later killed off. This left many users frustrated as the AirPower seemed like a natural synergistic fit with the recently launched wireless case for the AirPods. However, as Kuo suggests, perhaps the new iPhones could take its place. The analyst also claims that Apple could be introducing larger batteries of anywhere from 10-25%, depending on the model.
