Uber introduced its Ride Pass monthly subscription service to make riders cheaper in October last year. It was launched in five cities initially and provided subscribers with flat rates on all UberX and UberPool trips taken during the month. It locked in consistent prices for rides that subscribers can take anywhere in a supported city at any time of the day in exchange for a monthly fee. This service is now being expanded to 16 additional cities.
Uber announced the expansion today, adding that riders in select cities will also receive additional benefits on e-bikes and scooters with their Ride Pass which includes 30 free minutes a day with JUMP. Prices for the Ride Pass service start at $14.99 but increase to $24.99 in markets where the service offers scooters and e-bikes.
According to Uber, Ride Pass subscribers stand to save up to 15 percent on their overall monthly expense on the ride-hailing service. The fares they get won’t increase based on external events such as surge pricing as well. Ride Pass also has no limit to the number of rides that subscribers can take every month as long as they’re subscribed to the service.
The new markets include New York City, Dallas, San Diego, Seattle, San Antonio, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Orange County, Baltimore, New Orleans, Nashville, Portland, Raleigh-Durham, St. Louis, Jacksonville, and Memphis. The five launch cities include Los Angeles, Austin, Orlando, Denver, and Miami.
