Multi-view streaming is already a big deal in live sports but it was much more suited to multiplayer gaming. Twitch is looking to switch things up by announcing a new feature called Squad Stream. The feature allows up to four streamers to broadcast their gameplay together in the same window.
With Squad Stream, up to four creators can go live and stream together in one window. This is a more hands-on way to collaborate unlike hosting or Raids as Squad Stream allows streamers to actively team up with other creators so that everyone in a channel can benefit. Creators can team up from the dashboard and stream content that they normally wouldn’t stream.
This would allow them to grow their communities at the same time. On the other hand, viewers get to see the action from more angles and easily support more of their favorite creators. Twitch is celebrating the launch of Squad Stream with several four-person streams over the next few weeks with a variety of partners. The full list of these streams can be found on the company’s blog.
The Squad Stream feature is available for Partners first. Those who are eligible will be able to start a Squad Stream from their dashboard right away. Viewers can opt-in to the Squad Stream right from the creators’ channel page.
