Tesla Installs Asia’s Largest Energy Storage System In Two Days

Tesla promised to help South Australia with its energy problems back in 2017. It followed through by building what was at that point in time the world’s largest battery in just 100 days. CEO Elon Musk had said that the entire project would be completed “100 days from contract signature or it’s free.” Tesla was able to do just that. The company has now installed a Powerpack at Osaka station in Japan in just two days. All the hardware was put up at an incredible pace.

It says that this is Asia’s largest energy storage system. Tesla’s Osaka Powerpack system will be used as an emergency backup for the busy Osaka station and will also help to reduce peak energy demand.

The 42 Powerpack units will provide enough energy to move a train safely with all of its passengers for up to 30 minutes to the nearest station if there’s a power failure. The 7MWh project is the biggest energy storage development in Asia, according to Tesla, and all of the hardware was installed in just two days.

The backup system will certainly be very useful for the station as it’s one of the busiest in Japan, transporting millions of people daily. Tesla’s system would ease passengers’ troubles in the event of a power outage.
