If a new report is to be believed, we might see the launch of a gaming platform for Snapchat next month. The announcement is expected at the Snap Partner Summit in Los Angeles on April 4th. Snap, the company behind the ephemeral messaging app Snapchat, has not confirmed or denied the report about the launch of a gaming platform.
This won’t be the first time that Snap would try its hand at games. It launched Snappables last year where were basically AR lens games. The new initiative is said to be more substantial by Cheddar, adding that the platform would even allow third-party developers to make games which would be accessible from within the Snapchat app.
Multiple reports over the past few months have suggested the possibility that a gaming platform is being developed for Snapchat. The company is also believed to have acquired an Australian game studio called Prettygreat in January this year. All of this circumstantial evidence hints at the impending launch of a new gaming platform.
Snap might reap plenty of benefits by opening up a gaming platform for the app. It will result in increased user engagement and allow the company to make more money. Snap is keeping its plans pretty hush hush at the moment. It has not commented on Cheddar’s report about the launch of a gaming platform as yet.
