For those who have been following Angry Birds related news, this title might sound familiar. It is because the company had previously launched a game with the same name except in virtual reality, but now it looks like they’ll be trying their luck with augmented reality. This game seems to be exclusive to Apple’s iOS devices and will work on the iPhone 6 or later, or the new iPad Pro models, or the 5th gen iPads or later.
This is because the game will be leveraging iOS’s ARKit SDK where gamers will be able to play Angry Birds in “real life”. For the most part the concept of the game is similar to a regular Angry Birds game where you attempt to bring down structures, but the main difference here is that you can place these levels anywhere in real-life if you want to shake things up a bit.
It sounds like an interesting concept and does seem to be a pretty good use of AR, but whether or not gamers will flock to it remains to be seen. The game does not have a release date yet but it is available for pre-purchase.
