James Bond, the man with a license to kill, is always seen going about on Her Majesty’s service in the latest Aston Martin sportscar. Some of the company’s most iconic vehicles have featured in 007 films and to reflect the changing times, we might see an electric Aston Martin in the next James Bond movie.
The Sun reports that Cary Joji Fukanaga, the director of the upcoming Bond movie, wants the secret agent to go about his business in an Aston Martin Rapide E, it’s an electric sports car from the manufacturer. The director reportedly doesn’t want to see Bond in a gas-powered coupe.
He’s apparently not alone in wanting to showcase this shift in the automobile industry in the next movie. Daniel Craig, the actor who currently plays Bond, is said to be onboard in addition to the producers. They feel that “the time was right” for James Bond to use a zero-emission vehicle.
Obviously it’s not set in stone so it can’t be said with absolute certainty that this is going to happen. Rest assured, no one will say that the Rapide E won’t be able to get 007 out of sticky situations quickly. It puts out the equivalent of 602 HP and boasts a top speed of 155 miles per hour.
