The good news is that if you own an older Android device and your manufacturer has pretty much thrown in the towel on providing updates, you’ll be pleased to learn that LineageOS could help fill that gap. This is because the team behind LineageOS has recently released the latest version of their ROM where it will now pretty much bring Android 9.0 Pie to older devices dating as far back to 2014.
This includes devices such as the OnePlus One, some Samsung Galaxy S5 variants, and the Google Nexus 6. There will also be support for newer devices like the Xiaomi Poco F1, Huawei P20 Pro, and Motorola Moto X4, where in case if you prefer LineageOS to the version of Android bundled on these devices, you now have the option.
If you’re interested in getting your hands on the latest version of LineageOS, then head on over to its website for the details. However note that this isn’t “official” compared to updates released by your manufacturer or Google, so proceed with caution while installing it.
