EA PLAY is basically EA’s own event that they will be hosting close to E3 on the 7th of June, 2019, about a week before E3 2019 kicks off. This doesn’t really come as much of a surprise given that more companies are starting to choose to host their own events where they have more control over what gets shown without having to worry about the attention being shared with other companies.
According to EA, “Weekends are meant for play, and this year we’ve moved the EA PLAY fanfest to Saturday, June 8 and Sunday, June 9 where players will get hands-on with our games. We’ll also have content creators streaming live from our Creator’s Cave in the Hollywood Palladium providing gameplay content to our players viewing online. EA.com will be the home for all online EA PLAY content. Players can get behind-the-scenes with our games via exclusive gameplay reveals, developer talks and breaking news.”
EA isn’t alone in passing up on making an appearance at E3 this year. Last year Sony also announced that they too will be skipping E3 this year.
