DirecTV Now Price To Go Up As HBO Gets Bundled

AT&T’s DirecTV Now streaming service is about to get a bit more expensive but with good reason. The company is raising subscription prices by an additional $10 per month but is providing subscribers with access to HBO in return. The existing packages that DirecTV Now subscribers have access to are being restructured by AT&T which is replacing them with two new options.

With DirecTV Now Plus, subscribers will get more than 40 channels which includes HBO for $50 per month. DirecTV Now Max is the second package which has more than 50 channels as well as HBO for $70 per month. The price for both of these tiers is $10 per month more than what DirecTV Now subscribers are currently paying.

The service has alerted users of the price hike today and it will take effect on April 12th. Even though HBO is now being bundled into DirecTV Now subscriptions, this doesn’t mean that this is where the streaming plans end as far as HBO is concerned.

A completely new streaming service built around HBO is in the pipeline and is expected to be launched in beta by the end of this year. It will offer three new subscription packages all for streaming HBO content. No further information is available at this point in time about the new HBO-focused streaming service.
