Apple’s News And Magazine Subscription Service Hinted At In Latest macOS Beta

Apple had recently confirmed that they would be hosting an event on the 25th of March. Details about the event are scarce, but the name of the event, “It’s Show Time”, seems to confirm that it will most likely see Apple announce their streaming service. In addition to that, there have also been rumors that Apple might use the event to launch their new news and magazines subscription service as well.

In fact according to developer Steve Troughton-Smith, he has discovered some evidence within the latest macOS beta that hints that such a service is in the works. According to Troughton-Smith, “There’s a bunch you can discern about Apple News’ magazines from what’s in the OS betas: for example, the magazines are PDF-based (like most iPad magazines), and issues can be stored offline. The magazine genres are listed as pictured. Most of its code is written in Swift.”

It has been rumored that Apple might be looking to revamp its news service. The company had previously acquired Texture, which for those unfamiliar used to be known as the Netflix for magazines where it gave users unlimited access to magazines for a monthly subscription. The rumors are saying that Apple could now be looking to bundle its news and magazines together, and possibly put them all under a single subscription service.

Either way we should have the official details in the coming weeks, so be sure to check back with us then for the updates.
