Vuzix Unveils M400 Smart Glasses Aimed At Enterprise Users

Smart glasses have yet to break into the mainstream. Google had several years ago attempted to bring smart glasses to the mainstream with the Google Glass, but we all know how that turned out. However what was interesting is that despite it failing to become a hit with consumers, it actually proved to be a hit in the enterprise sector.

This is why it’s not surprising that other companies who are also interested in such devices are targeting enterprise customers. One of those companies if Vuzix who has recently unveiled their M400 smart glasses which is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon XR1 platform, making them the first smart glasses to use the new platform.

According to Hugo Swart, head of XR at Qualcomm, “Snapdragon XR1 is the first dedicated XR platform from Qualcomm Technologies targeted to the class of devices that Vuzix has mastered. Vuzix’ focus on wearability, experience, and form factor combined with XR1 will drive smart glasses to the next level. Qualcomm Technologies is a strong believer in the smart glasses segment for the enterprise. We look forward to seeing our collaboration with Vuzix help scale adoption in enterprises and become a mainstream device to help increase employee productivity in the new era of AI and immersive computing.”

Vuzix is no stranger to smart glasses and has released other similar wearables in the past. The M400 will feature things like voice processing, head tracking, and with the XR1 platform combined with machine learning algorithms, will help the headset classify objects, predict poses, and so on.
