This is according to a report from Barron’s (via 9to5Mac) where analyst firm Baird conducted their semiannual smartphone survey in which they asked customers about their interest in Apple’s streaming service. Unfortunately for Apple, the survey found that for the most part, it was met with lukewarm reception.
Only 18% responded with “some interest”, suggesting that the rest weren’t too excited for it. Of course this is just one survey and for all we know, Apple’s streaming service could actually turn out to be a winner. It is rumored to be priced at $15 a month which if the rumors are true and that it could include a subscription to all of Apple’s services, it is an outright steal.
Whether or not the content will be good enough to keep customers interested is a different story, but that is something we’ll have to wait and see. In the meantime some publishers have already expressed their dissatisfaction with Apple News, citing that there aren’t enough readers for them to make it particularly profitable. We’ll have to see if Apple’s upcoming streaming service could face similar issues.
