Sony’s next flagship smartphone is expected to be the Sony Xperia XZ4, which leaked photos and specs have clued us in on some features that we can expect. Now according to a trademark filing spotted by LetsGoDigital, the company has filed for the trademark for “CinemaWide”.
The trademark has been classified as a Class 9 which means that it is a general class that covers a variety of devices, including tablets and smartphones. However given that MWC is coming up and following all the rumors surrounding the Xperia XZ4, there is a good chance that this could be related.
Exactly what this means in terms of display specs or tech is unclear, but judging from the leaked renders, it could just be Sony’s marketing term of its edge-to-edge display on the phone. Other than that, it’s really anyone’s guess. The phone is also rumored to be packing the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage.
There is also a rumored 4,400mAh battery and possibly a triple lens camera setup on the back. Take these rumors with a grain of salt for now, but MWC is around the corner so remember to check back then and hopefully we’ll have some official details to share.
