For the most part the rumors about the Xperia 1 have proven to be true. This includes the rumors about its display where the phone is packing a 6.5-inch 4K screen with an aspect ratio of 21:9. This is a really odd aspect ratio for our mobile devices, although one could argue that such an aspect ratio would be good for movies since that’s what they use at the cinemas.
At the same time with most videos being filmed in 16:9, it will most likely result in quite a bit of bezels. The phone will also be packing hardware specs and features similar to that of a flagship phone in 2019, which includes the use of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset, 6GB of RAM, and up to 128GB of storage.
It will also sport a triple camera setup on the back that combines a 12MP sensor with a 26mm wide-angle lens, a 52mm telephoto lens (both of which have OIS), and a 16mm super wide-angle lens. There is also a fingerprint reader built into the side of the phone which is what Sony has done with its previous handsets. No word on pricing just yet but the phone is currently expected to be released this coming spring.
