Not much is known about the movie at the moment, but now a report from Deadline has revealed that Netflix might actually be the platform that will be getting the premiere of the movie. Yup, that’s right, it will be premiering the movie even before AMC does. However this move doesn’t come as a surprise as the show’s creator Vince Gilligan has attributed Breaking Bad’s success partially to Netflix.
According to Gilligan’s quote from 2013 Emmys, “I think Netflix kept us on the air. Not only are we standing up here, I don’t think our show would have even lasted beyond Season 2. … It’s a new era in television, and we’ve been very fortunate to reap the benefits.” Based on that it’s not surprising that Gilligan might want to “repay” that favor by giving Netflix the premiere of the movie when it is released.
No word on when the movie will be released, but it is expected to be based on the events of what happened after the series finale and will follow Aaron Paul’s character, Jesse Pinkman.
