According to his daughter, “It could have gone so much worse. All morning we asked, ‘What had happened if he hadn’t worn a smart watch?’ He didn’t bring his mobile phone in the bathroom. It’s amazing that he got such quick help from the alarm, until the police found him. It was a serious fall, perhaps it saved his life.”
It was suggested that the man had gone to the bathroom in the middle of the night, possibly fainted and fell to the floor where he sustained three fractures to his face. It seems that the man is now recovering in the hospital but is otherwise fine. Typically when it comes to stories about the Apple Watch saving a life, it is usually related to the heart rate monitor feature where it picks up on possible heart attacks.
However with the new fall detection feature, it looks like the Apple Watch is becoming more useful than ever. The feature is disabled by default unless you mark yourself as aged 65-years and older.
