It wasn’t necessarily the easiest computer to upgrade, but it was possible. More recently analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claims that the new Mac Pro is expected to be easy to upgrade, and now we might have an idea of how Apple plans on approaching its design. This is according to a report from Tailosive Tech (via Cult of Mac) where they claim that Apple’s new Mac Pro could feature a stackable design.
This means that the new Mac Pro will be designed with a modular approach, where its components will exist as stackable modules instead of a single tower where parts are inserted, much like your traditional desktop PC. We’re not sure how true these claims are, but if they are true then the new Mac Pros could definitely be an exciting piece of tech to look forward to.
The idea of a modular PC isn’t exactly new. Several years ago Razer unveiled Project Christine, the company’s take on modular PCs. However the project never materialized, but if this report is accurate, it seems that Apple could have better luck at bringing modular computers to the market.
