It is unclear as to what the future holds for the Titanfall franchise, but in the meantime it seems the the franchise’s developer, Respawn, might have stumbled upon a new hit game in the form of Apex Legends. The game has not only managed to accrue millions of players over the course of days, but it seems that they might have broken a record previously set by Fortnite Battle Royale.

According to Twitch tracker Gamolco (via GamesIndustry.biz), it seems that Apex Legends has managed to beat Fortnite’s record for single day Twitch viewing. On the 12th of February, the tracker found that there were about 8.4 million hours of matches being watched. This is versus Fortnite in which Season 5’s launch managed to clock 7.2 million hours.

This is a bit surprising as Fortnite is currently the king of battle royale games. It has managed to prove to be a cultural phenomenon as well, and helped give rise to new streamers. However so far reviews of Apex Legends are also proving to be pretty positive which could potentially give Fortnite a bit of competition.

However whether or not it has the same staying power as Fortnite remains to be seen. Apex Legends was launched by EA and Respawn and is a spin-off of the Titanfall franchise. Respawn also seems to be pretty invested in it as the developer had previously stated that they do not have plans to launch a Titanfall 3 anytime soon.
