Note that both Yale and August are owned by the same parent company – Assa Abloy, which explains how tech from both companies are being shared with each other. Starting with Yale, the company has unveiled a new Assure Lever Lock that is designed for doors with a single hole, meaning that these are meant to be used on doors that don’t necessarily need extra security like a front door.
This means that users will be able to remotely control their locks, share virtual keys with their friends and family members, and so on. There will be two versions sold: one with a hardware key and one with a traditional key, and it will feature a deadbolt which makes it ideal for the front door.
The Yale Assure Lever Lock will be priced between $149 to $299 and will be available this spring, while the EMPowered Smart Lock Keypad Deadbolt Connected by August (with a keypad) will be priced at $440 and will ship in June, with the EMPowered Smart Lock for Deadbolt/Entryset Connected by August (uses a physical key) being priced at $370 and being made available in April.
