Western Digital Black SSDs Will Be Available With An Optional Heatsink

Western Digital’s Black series of performance-focused SSDs have been quite popular and the company is now shipping the latest iteration of this series. It’s evidently tilting the brand towards gamers which is in line with the trend of premium PC hardware being branded as essential for gamers. The WD Black SN750 SSDs are available now and will soon be available with an optional heatsink as well.

The company says that this latest performance-focused solid state drive is going to allow gamers on PC to limit the risk of performance dips due to throttling. This would be made possible by the optional heatsinks. The SSDs don’t ship with them out of the box so the one that you can get today won’t have it.

The SN750 has the same 64-layer 3D NAND seen before and even though some companies have launched products with 96 layer 3D NAND, this option from Western Digital is a good buy for gamers looking for performance with power efficiency. Western Digital is selling this SSD in 250GB, 500GB, 1TB, and 2TB configurations for $79.99, $129.99, $249.99, and $499.99 respectively.

These prices are for the variants that don’t have heat sinks. The 2TB model is a new addition to the lineup and it won’t be available until the spring. The same goes for the heatsink option which will also be available this spring. Keep in mind that the 256GB model won’t have the heat sink option.
