Sony’s Uncharted Movie Has A New Director

Sony’s Uncharted movie has been talked about for years but we have yet to see anything happen. Last we heard was back in 2018 where it was reported that the movie could begin filming soon, although there is now a chance that might no longer be true simply because it has lost its previous director.

A report from Variety has revealed that Shawn Levy, previously tapped to direct the movie, has since left the project due to scheduling conflicts. The good news is that Sony has since found a new director with Dan Trachtenberg who is probably best known for “10 Cloverfield Lane”. Apparently Sony has been looking for opportunities to work with Trachtenberg since then, and now it looks like their chance is here.

While the movie has found its new director, we imagine that this will add to the delay as apparently the script was rewritten as well, where a recent draft was penned by Jonathan Rosenberg and Mark Walker. Just like the directors that were previously attached to the movie, the script has changed hands multiple times as well.

So far what we do know and what seems to be confirmed is that Spider-Man actor Tom Holland will be starring in the role of Nathan Drake. In any case any hope of seeing the movie this year is pretty much out of the question, not to mention Holland has media duties to promote Spider-Man: Far From Home, which means that 2020 is probably the earliest you can expect to see it if all goes well.
