Looking for a nice speaker for your next outdoor party? Consider the one that Sony has unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show 2019 in Las Vegas this week. It’s part of the new lineup of audio products that the company has unveiled at this busy trade show. The GTK-PG10 outdoor speaker is unique in that it has cupholders.
The GTK-PG10 looks like what you’d expect an outdoor speaker to look like but there’s an interesting design detail. Open up the foldable top panels and you get access to four cupholders that will easily fit Solo cups. The foldable panels also house the speaker’s tweeters.
There’s an integrated battery that’s said to be good for 13 hours of playback and even has an onboard XLR mic input for those who want to bust out the karaoke. On the technical side of things, Sony says that the speaker’s digital signal processor “automatically adapts audio settings to optimize outdoor performance.”
The cube-shaped speaker has built-in handles for easy transportation. Opening up the foldable panels don’t just provide you a place to secure your beer, it also has the tweeters facing upwards and outwards which spreads the sound wider. The top happens to be splash-proof as well so don’t fret if you spill your drink.
Sony will be selling the oddly-named GTX-PG10 for $250 later this year in the spring.
