As it stands, the headphones already support Google Assistant, but for added variety and to give users more options, the update will make Alexa available as an option as well. However it should be noted that only one digital assistant can be activated at one time, so it’s not as if you can use both at the same time, just in case it wasn’t already obvious.
Once the headphones have been updated, whatever you might typically be able to do with Alexa you should still be able to do so via the headphones. For example you could use Alexa to change tracks, control your smart home devices, set reminders, call you a pizza, and so on, as long as your headphones are connected to your handset.
Sony does not mention any specific dates as to when the update is expected to roll out, but they are aiming for a release in the first quarter of 2019 so we’ll be keeping an eye out for it.
