Resident Evil TV Series Reportedly In Development At Netflix

Now that the Resident Evil movies are done (at least for now), it seems that Capcom has interest in keeping the live-action version of the series alive. This is according to a report from Deadline in which it has been reported that Netflix could be looking to develop a TV series based on Resident Evil.

At the moment not much is known about the show as Netflix is said to still be in the early stages of looking for a showrunner for it. This means that it is unclear if it could be a live-action TV series, or if it could end up being an animated series, similar to what was done for Konami’s Castlevania series.

However the series is expected to expand on the Resident Evil mythology and explore the deeper workings of the Umbrella Corporation, as well as the new world order that was caused by the outbreak of the T-virus. The series will incorporate elements of Resident Evil, and is supposed to act as a setup for the movie franchise.

While the Resident Evil movies haven’t ranked particularly high when it comes to reviews and ratings, it is the most successful movie franchises based around video games to date where it has managed to earn $1.2 billion worldwide.
