If you weren’t particularly impressed with the design of August’s smart doorbell, then you’ll be pleased to learn that a new and redesigned upgrade could be in the works. This is according to a report from Zatz Not Funny who discovered that a potentially newly redesigned smart doorbell from August is being developed (or has already been developed).
As you can see in the image above, the redesigned doorbell is “taller” and looks more sleek compared to its predecessor, which had a more boxy design. Neither design is necessarily better than the other, but if you didn’t appreciate the boxy design then perhaps this might be more appealing to you, although at the same time we imagine that some could mistake this for a smart lock.
As to what kind of new features the upgraded model will have, it is unclear. It is also unclear as to how much it might cost, but with CES 2019 kicking off next week, there is a very good chance that more details will be shared then since the event does play home to quite a few smart home announcements and products from a variety of companies. So if you are planning on equipping your home with a smart doorbell that has the ability to record/stream video, then check back with us next week where hopefully we’ll have more details to share.
