When it comes to HomeKit compatible devices, there are many options available, ranging from smart lighting to smart locks. However oddly enough there aren’t any HomeKit compatible doorbell systems, despite devices from August and Ring being pretty popular. However could a HomeKit doorbell system be in the works?
That’s what Robin Telecom seems to suggest as discovered by 9to5Mac where the company put up a website for its ProLine Doorbell. According to its website listing, it seems to suggest that the device could have HomeKit support, which if true would make it the first doorbell system to actually support HomeKit.
It doesn’t seem to be available for purchase just yet, but CES 2019 is taking place next week so maybe we’ll learn more about it then. The compatibility with HomeKit also means that users will be able to control it via the dedicated Home app, and they’ll also be able to use it in conjunction with other HomeKit compatible devices.
From what we can tell, the ProLine Doorbell will be quite standard in terms of features, where you can see who’s at the door remotely via its accompany app. Of course not being HomeKit compatible doesn’t diminish the usefulness of the other doorbell systems, although it might discourage customers who are shopping about for only HomeKit compatible products.
