In a post on Twitter by @TechNavvi, a patent that is allegedly by Google shows a diagram of what seems like the company’s imagining of a foldable smartphone. Like what we’ve come to expect, Google’s foldable smartphone isn’t too different from other foldables, where it will fold down the middle where it can be folded into a smartphone, or unfolded to become a tablet.
Now what’s interesting about this is that last year, Google actually officially announced that Android will support foldable devices. Previously the company had also stated that Android would support devices with a notch, and sure enough the Pixel 3 XL launched with a notch. Based on that, we wouldn’t be surprised if Google were to actually launch a foldable Pixel phone in the future.
Also it has been pointed out by leakster and Russian blogger Eldar Murtazin (via Gadgets 360) that Google has seven smartphones in the works, two of which debuted last year as the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL, and that at least one of the seven devices is a foldable handset. Needless to say this should be taken with a grain of salt for now, but what do you think about Google jumping on the foldable smartphone bandwagon?
