This is thanks to a tweet by leakster Evan Blass where he posted a render of the upcoming handset in question. While he does not explicitly mention anything, it is clear that based on the render, the phone will be featuring an in-display fingerprint sensor. The render also “confirms” the penta-lens arrangement on the back of the phone.
At the moment it is unclear how different having five lenses versus dual, triple, or quadruple lenses will be, but presumably having more lenses means more details, color, and range will be captured which will hopefully result in better quality photos. The renders also seems to show that the phone will have pretty a pretty sizable chin at the bottom of the phone, and a thick bezel at the top, but if you’re someone who hates the notch design then we guess this is good news?
There is still no word on when the phone will be announced, but last we heard it might take place by the end of January. This means that HMD could be planning on holding an event of their own instead of choosing to launch the handset at CES 2019 which kicks off next week.
