This is why there have been rumors that suggested that Nintendo could be planning a refresh to the Nintendo Switch, possibly even this year. For those hoping that the rumors were true, you might be disappointed to learn that will not be the case. This is according to an interview Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa did with The Sankei News (via Nintendo Everything).
Furukawa was asked to elaborate more on the goal of the company to sell 20 million units of the Switch within the fiscal year, to which he replied by saying, “It is an extremely ambitious, but worthwhile achievement. So, we will maintain this goal. Nintendo Switch is our primary sales objective, and we are not considering a successor or a price cut at this time.”
Now it is possible that something might have gotten lost in translation, but Furukawa’s statement echoes one from last year where Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime told Forbes that the company is currently focused on the current-gen Switch.
