Thankfully if you’re someone who’s new to football, you will be pleased to learn that the NFL has launched their very first skill for Amazon’s Alexa, where you will now be able to ask the digital assistant on information about the game. Dubbed The Rookie’s Guide to the NFL, the description of the skill reads, “The Rookie’s Guide to the NFL is your official way to learn about the National Football League. Become an expert by asking about the rules, penalties, scoring plays, commentator lingo, previous Super Bowls, team formations, and more.”
With the Alexa skill, this means that in the comfort of your own home and if you own an Alexa-enabled device like the Echo, you will be able to ask it things like “What is defensive pass intereference?”, or “How many players are on a team?”, or “What’s the difference between a running back and a wide receiver?”
As noted by TechCrunch, this is not the NFL’s first attempt at creating a skill for digital assistants. The organization had previously launched a flash briefing feature called “NFL in :60”, but this skill will be their first standalone voice-enabled app.
