If you were hoping that this meant that Google had extended the life of either handset, you would have been sort of right, but it seems that December was truly the last time as both handsets have seemingly missed out on the January 2019 update, marking the official end of both phones.
This is particularly significant as both handsets were essentially the last of the Nexus lineup. Both phones were the last Nexus phones before Google made the rebrand and shift to the Pixel handsets. It was also notable as the Nexus 6P was made by Huawei and was one of the better Nexus phones for photography, although Google has come a very long way since then.
In any case given how old both phones are, we suppose it was only a matter of time before they would reach the end of their life. If you’re still holding onto them, maybe it’s time to consider making an upgrade not only for a faster and more advanced device, but also for security purposes too.
