In fact rumors of an iPad refresh seem to be making their rounds with a recent report from Bloomberg corroborating those claims, suggesting that the new tablets could be launched as early as this spring. This doesn’t come as much of a surprise since Apple does from time to time hold events in the early part of the year.
The report “confirms” that we can expect to see a refresh of last year’s budget iPad and also the iPad mini. However don’t expect too much from these devices because according to the reports, Apple’s new tablets will be of the budget variety and will not pack some of the newer features, such as Face ID.
Presumably this is done to keep costs down, but at the same time it’s not a bad thing since it means more affordable tablets. Last year’s budget iPad also had an advantage where it came with support for the Apple Pencil which meant that customers did not need to buy the iPad Pro for the feature.
