As you might be aware, following the scare of the heartbleed security scare, many Android OEMs pledged to release monthly security updates to their devices to ensure they remain as secure as possible. Now this isn’t to say that both the LG G5 and LG V20 are no longer safe, but the lack of monthly security updates might not sit well with some.
However this shouldn’t be surprising as both phones are about two years old already, and usually Android manufacturers support their devices for around that length of time. LG isn’t alone in ditching security updates for its older devices as previously it was reported that both the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X would also no longer receive their updates, marking the official end to Google’s Nexus lineup of phones.
Like we said if you are still holding onto either handset, we expect that LG will have new phones that they are planning to launch this year, so maybe it could be time to start thinking about an upgrade.
