Google’s I/O is one of the most anticipated developer events of the year. The company makes major software-related announcements at this event, such as unveiling the next major platform update for Android. The confirmed dates for I/O 2019 were discovered by a Twitter user who used a shortcut hidden in a puzzle that Google tweeted out.
Till Kottmann, the Twitter user in question, was able to discover the information about Google I/O 2019 in a snippet of JSON code. He got to it using the shortcut that was hidden in a puzzle tweeted out by Google.
The puzzle involved a 12-line block of tweet that included a link to a video of the narration for the same text. All of this formed some part of a programming puzzle that the average Twitter user would obviously not be able to understand.
Kottmann and other users also managed to discover a tweet from a now-deleted account called @internaltest189 which mentioned the dates in simple text. Google I/O 2019 will take place from May 7th to May 9th at the Shoreline Amphitheater, where Google has previously hosted its I/O events.
The date itself is in line with expectations. Google normally conducts the event at this time of the year, it kicked off on May 8th last year. So it’s well within expectations for Google I/O 2019 to open up on May 7th.
