A leak shared by Ben Geskin on Twitter has revealed that Samsung’s Galaxy S10 might come with a feature called Samsung Blockchain KeyStore, which based on the description in the photos makes it sound like it will be a wallet for users to store their cryptocurrency on. At the moment it seems to only support Ethereum so if you use another type of currency, you might be out of luck.
It’s actually an interesting feature because while cryptocurrency is still a pretty hot topic, it is quite niche due to its high barrier to entry, where miners would need some pretty powerful and expensive rigs in order to mine for their own cryptocurrencies. This means that not everyone will be able to truly take advantage of this wallet feature.
Interestingly enough Samsung isn’t alone in this as HTC had previously launched the HTC Exodus, a blockchain smartphone. It has yet to take off which suggests that maybe the market isn’t quite ready for such devices at this point in time.
